Aspire 5 A514-54 I was looking to Upgrade my RAM Options

Hello, I recently bought an Aspire 5 A514-54, with an i5-1135G7 and 8 GB of RAM 2666 Mhz (4GB Soldered and 4GB on RAM Stick). I was looking to upgrade my RAM to a bigger size and higher speed, but I don't know how high I can go. Some say a 16GB Stick (that would be 20GB total), others say 8GB Stick (12GB total). Some sources say it can only go to 2666 Mhz, others say higher. I would like to know for sure so I can get the max out of this notebook.

Thanks a lot for the info. It's weird that the onboard RAM works at 3200 Mhz if the DIMM slot only admits 2666 Mhz. The onboard RAM is forcefully underclocked.

Can you send a capture from slot 2? This model comes with 4gb of onboard and 4gb of onboard ram. In that case you can add another 16gb and it will work in flex mode! Only 8gb will work in dual channel and the remaining 12gb will work in single channel.

When I select slot 2, it's empty. I think the onboard memory is in the memory tab and the sodimm module is in the spd tab on slot 1.

So, I should buy a 16GB Stick of RAM, but should it be 2666 mhz, or could a 3200 mhz stick give me better performance?? I ask beacause, well, 2666 wil be much cheaper, (at least in my country LOL) than 3200.

Good afternoon, I have the same request as the user who has started this topic. I currently have an Acer Aspire 5 A514-54-57E7 with an i5-1135G7, SSD Nvme 256 gb and 8 gb of Ram. From some analysis, I've found that the Ram is DDR4-2666 type, but on CPUZ the second slot available it's empty so I can see only the Slot #1 (4gb).

My question is: how much Ram is supported on my laptop? If the soldered Ram is 4gb, can I upgrade the other 4gb with a 16gb module? Will it work in dual channel mode? Also, I would like to pair the current Nvme memory with another HDD or, better, SSD. Can I do that? I hope you can help me, thanks in advance.

Heyy, the original poster here. In the end I bought a 16GB Crucial 3200mhz stick, and installed it. It worked just fine, no problems with compatability and I now have 20GB in total, but it still is in 2666mhz. And, as the previous people in the post stated, I believe the first 4GB are dual channel with the onboard memory and the further 12GB on the stick are single channel. So 8GB dual and 12GB single.

I also bought a 1TB Toshiba Hard Drive that works perfectly, when I bought the latop it had a cage and cable, where I installed the HDD and plugged it into the motherboard. It's been working great ever since.

Hi, thank you for the reply. Can I ask you if you noticed an improvement in performance from the initial 8gb?

Also, is it mandatory to install a module of the samev brand alongside the soldered Ram? I don't remember the brand of this one, but the free module which is replaceable is branded Kingston on my laptop. And for the second drive, is it possible to install an SSD?

Last question, what about the estimated duration of the battery with the new setup (4+16 gb Ram and a second SSD/HDD)? In this moment, with stock setup, my battery lasts 3/4 of a day in economy mode and its performance has worsen in the last year, when I managed to make it last an entire day.

You can install a 2.5" SSD and an nvme SSD in this computer.

Hi, I'm also having questions for ram upgrade, looking at previous advices, I installed CPUZ and checked my memory but when i check the ram slots I have no slot 1(no info/its blank) and slot 2 is just has manufacturer information and the module size, nothing else. What should I do?

If your model is a514-54, this computer comes with integrated ram and that is why cpu-z does not recognize the memory!
