    Gently wipe the gold  drive contacts with a soft cloth moistened lightly with rubbing alcohol. Pat dry with another cloth. Re-seat the drive in the socket a few times to help clean the socket contacts. Button it back up and try it again.

  • This ssd has some incompatibility with RST and vmd controller.
    Enable safeboot in windows msconfig and reboot. Then go to bio, go to main tab, press ctrl+s and change satamode to ahci or disable vmd controller. Then install the mx500 ssd.

    I agree with @egydiocoelho . Check it out. You want AHCI mode. Not Intel VMD or RST.

  • @Easwar Some crucial ssds have some compatibility issue with vmd controller. Just disable vmd controller in bios.

    Hi,

    @Commodore_1995# @jackE @Easwar

    I know this topic is old but I hope someone will answer

    I had the same issue and the VMD disabled worked. Howerver, since some windows update and Direct X update, i got a black screen again. Boot only on m'y SSD with thé system to attemps the same trick, but this Time windows is with a blue screen of death, enable to find boot device. So i had to reinitialise ( no restauration or remove update work) and do the vmd trick again. Howerver it is thé third Time i have the problem, what Can i do ?

    Sorry, if VMD was still OFF when the black screen happened & unable to find boot device, then it is probably NOT caused by Windows or DirectX update.

    It is thus more likely that during the updates, the SSD's own memory wear leveling failed and memory cells were lost. By resetting, memory cells that are unused or still good are being used. However, it will probably happen again. What brand and model number is the SSD?
