A514-54 laptop's fan turning off

Hi, my A514-54 laptop's fan was turning off after some time of work and doesn't turn on automatically, I noticed it today that fan doesn't make any sound even when I opened few browser tabs, I touched the keyboard and it was hot after resetting BIOS to default configs issue is gone, I just want to know could that heat cause damage of components (mainly CPU). Unfortunately I didn't inspect CPU temperatures to be exact how hot it was and how long that state lasted, the laptop doesn't turned off automatically for safety from overheating. Can I be sure that noting was damaged and I won't face issues in the future?

If the CPU temperature exceeds about 94-95°C lasting for more than a few seconds, a breaker will automatically shut the system down to prevent damage.

For your model, fan speed sound won't be noticeable until temp rise above about 65°C which is still fairly hot to touch. But still in normal range. Opening a few browser tabs should not make temperatures exceed 65°C by much. If background processes like update scanners were automatically started without any input from you, temperatures can rise enough for you to feel a difference but still not enough to make fan sound increase too much.

I think your perception setting BIOS defaults was only coincidental.  It may be that no automatic background processes were running after exiting the  BIOS.

So if system doesn't shut down automatically I can be sure that everything is okay and temperature wasn't that high to cause any issue. Do I get it right? (thanks for the answer)

    Hi @yuri96,

It might be your laptop is getting hot, and it's increasing the fan speed to cool the laptop down. It might get hot if it's doing updates, if your gaming, or some other intensive process. The fan will help keep the system cool, and will slow down once the system isn't as busy.

However, I would check the temperatures with hwmonitor too!
