acer aspire a514-54 usb (type c/3.0) to hdmi not working. please help!

Hello. Have been extremely frustrated over the past few days trying to connect two (acer) external displays to my acer aspire a514-54. the one external display connected via HDMI port works fine but when i tried connecting an additional one via usb-c/usb 3.0, it didn't work. surprisingly, the usb 3->hdmi connector worked at the store from where i purchased it - he connected to an led; but when i came home and tried it didn't work. please help! i've wasted enough money & time trying to get this to work.

ps: this was my first acer, not sure i'll purchase another. the above work fine in my wife's (dell) laptop.

used this for usb c->hdmi : http://www.portronics.com/products/c-konnect (didn't work!)

used this for usb 3->hdmi : http://nextechbyamson.com/product/usb-3-0-to-hdmi-adapter (worked at the store but not at home!)

For the USB3 one, have you installed a driver? 

For the first, it may be the laptop may not support USBC video, is it listed in the user guide ?

Thanks for your comment. Yes did install the driver for USB3 but still no luck. for USBC, couldn't find anything specific in the user guide.

USB-C alt mode is a premium feature, which means that if Acer didn't put big font on it on your specific computer model --- then you don't have it.

Thanks, what about USB3 -> HDMI or USB3 -> VGA? how can i make that work?

If the driver is installed, what is it showing as in device manager ? If its showing as an adapter, try hitting windows+p to see if it lets you just extend
