Aspire A515-45G Wrong drivers are being installed

Hi,

I bought a new ACER Aspire A515-45G laptop, processor AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, dedicated graphic card AMD Radeon T RX 640, and AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics (integrated).

Past week I did a Windows 11 clean install, so ACER and AMD software and drivers were deleted and automatically replaced by Microsoft Windows Update. Everything works fine, but I lost AMD software (Adrenaline etc), and now my AMD drivers are old (2020).

I went to AMD webpage support, and I downloaded/installed the latest "AMD Auto-Detect and Install Tool" (for Windows 11). Unfortunately this AMD software is installing AMD Radeon T RX 540 drivers on my laptop. I tried at least 10 times (installing and uninstalling), the AMD software always starts correctly announcing that AMD Radeon T RX 640 drivers are going to be installed, but at the end always the wrong AMD Radeon T RX 540 drivers are installed.

I tried using the complete full Adrenaline package.

I also tried using a third-party driver updater software.

And always same result... my right hardware is detected, but wrong drivers are installed.

Please, I request your help:

1) How can I install the right and latest AMD Adrenaline software for my ACER Aspire A515-45G?

2) If I don't want Adrenaline, how can I install the right and latest AMD Radeon T RX 640 drivers?

3) Same question for processor and chipset: If I don't want Adrenaline, how can I install the right and latest drivers for my ACER Aspire A515-45G?

4) Do I need another AMD software or driver for my ACER Aspire A515-45G?

Before asking you, I tried to google the issue, but I couldn't find answers. Hope you can help me. Thank you in advance

I know this issue windows most of time replace or overwrite old driver on new drivers make system performance unstable.
Follow these steps-
-First download the Chipset driver and Gpu driver from below link (I provided direct link so just click on link then expand windows 11 and download driver, I already selected your system specs so you don't need to worry about compatability issue)
chipset driver for your laptop here
Gpu driver for you laptop here
-Also Download the newest version of DD from here to remove old Gpu driver and microsoft update hide tool from here to prevent windows update to overwrite driver
-Now pause windows updates and Take your device offline (This means, cut the Internet connection for the device you want to clean install the drivers on).
-Go to your Download folder then Double click on the file “DDU .exe"
-Click on three dots select desktop path and Extract it
(DDU folder will be created on your desktop after extract)
-Now Start your pc in safe mode
Start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
-After safe mode manually, open the “DDU” folder and Double click on “Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
-Choose “GPU” in the first drop-down-Menu
-Choose “amd” in the second drop-down-Menu
-Click on “Clean and restart – Highly recommended“
(DDU will now remove the drivers completely and reboot your computer in normal mode)
----
-After reboot go to your download folder, install amd software and restart your laptop
-Now install amd chipset driver software and restart your laptop

-Now open wushowhide.diagcab from download folder and click on hide update (Will appears after detecting problems)
-Select every update that name start from amd or amd comes in it
-Click on next and close tool

-Reboot your Computer > Reactivate your internet connection > resume update> Done

Firstly, thank you! It's amazing your help, with very clear instructions, links included, everything, a complete answer!

At this weekend I'll test your instructions step by step. But please, just one simple question:

When DDU reboots to normal mode, your instruction is: "After reboot go to your download folder, install amd software".

By AMD software, do you mean "Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional"? If your answer is "yes", "Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional" always install both, the graphic card driver and the chipset drivers, but first "Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional" asks the user if he wants (or not) the chipset drivers. In this case, please, what is your instruction? To install chipset drivers using "Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional"? Or to install "Adrenalin 22.3.2 Optional" only with graphic card drivers without chipset drivers, restart the laptop, and then install AMD chipset drivers from the link you (kindly) posted?

Yes, install 23.3.1 first and it will not ask you to install chipset drivers, post image here of that screen when software ask to install chipset driver or both

Unfortunately it didn't work for me:

I already did at least 20 different tests.
I always followed your instructions step by step.
I tried using different driver versions (provided in your links).
I tested tweaks in your instructions, for example I changed installation order (chipset drivers first, then graphic card driver etc).
I tried different installation options offered in the Adrenalin software ("driver only", "driver + chipset", "full package" etc).
I tried again with the "AMD Autodetect" software.
At every test I always did a clean install of drivers, deleting AMD folders and registries in safe mode, using DDU etc.
I also manually deleted every driver from Device Manager (removing drivers from device, not just uninstalling).

Sadly, nothing worked for me.

At the beginning of each installation test, the correct hardware always is identified ("AMD Radeon T RX 640"). But at the end of each test, always the wrong driver is installed ("AMD Radeon T RX 540").

Just to be clear, by "wrong driver" I don't mean Windows Update driver. The latest AMD Adrenalin software always install the wrong driver ("AMD Radeon T RX 540" instead of "AMD Radeon T RX 640").

The only way to have the correct driver installed ("AMD Radeon T RX 640") is by using Windows Update or by using ACER official driver support webpage. In both cases, the correct "AMD Radeon T RX 640" driver is installed, but an old version from 10/27/2020 (labeled as 27.20.14016.13).

Try amd modded nimez driver.
Follow same steps i provided you above but this time download amd modded nimez driver except amd software 21.3.2 official one.

Don't worry about 540 vs 640, they are nearly identical gpu's. The difference is marketing. Driver source code is going to be the same.

What you may be seeing is that the computer wants both the integrated and discrete gpu to be running on the same driver version.

Yeah, I thought the same, but in my case (due to unknown reasons) unfortunately the 540 driver increases my boot time from 13 sec to almost 5 minutes... unacceptable! So it seems that only the 640 driver works on my device. Anyway, thank you for your help.

Thank you once again for your amazing help. Unfortunately Amernime MODDED AMD Drivers didn't work, exactly same problem, the wrong "AMD Radeon T RX 540" is installed instead of "AMD Radeon T RX 640".
