reduced battery capacity Aspire 3

hello,
i have an Aspire 3 laptop which is 9 months old
the battery is only charging to about 25% of its original capacity now.  see below

the following extract from the battery report shows that the reduced capacity occurred over a very short time period and has stabilised

the figure on the right shows the working capacity.  it dropped from 42000 to 10300 in about 5 weeks after being the same for 8 months.  since 16 march is has not changed.

i wondered if this was a software problem rather than a physical battery degradation as it was so sudden.  is there any way to restore the performance?

1. Let your screen turn off sooner.
2. Reduce screen brightness.
3. Set the brightness to change automatically.
4. Turn off keyboard sounds or vibrations.
5. Restrict apps with high battery use.
6. Turn on adaptive battery or battery optimization.
7. Delete unused accounts.

Hi @Domfront,

# Try to update the battery driver

1. Hold windows key and hit letter X.
2. Choose the device manager option.
3. Go with the option battery.
4. Under the title battery.

5. Right click on that option ----> Update all driver under the title battery.
6. Choose "search automatically". 

Check this T/S and post the result. ​

Hi Easwar, i tried updating the battery driver but got the message that it was already up to date.  i have re-run the battery report after and it still reports the capacity down at about 25% of the original.

@Domfront if the laptop still has the warranty, get it repaired for free of charge.

I attempted updating the battery motive force however were given the message that it turned into already as much as date. I actually have re-run the battery file after and it nevertheless reviews the potential down at approximately 25% of the original.

Can you tell me the exact model? Example SF315-52-58VH. Have you checked the battery wear with the hwinfo64 program?

thanks.  the laptop is still in warranty so will try that approach.  good thinking.
