Hi there
If I use my headset via Bluetooth it works without any problems, however if I plug my headphones into the jack socket then I get this annoying background noise all the time.  I have checked all the drivers/updates and everything is up to date.  I only received the laptop at the weekend, so is less than 3 days old.  Any help would be appreciated.

@Chopper1885 does that noise like buzzing or something else?

Sometimes there is a rubber o-ring at the bottom of the socket to help keep contaminants out of the insides. You have to push a little harder to get the jack to fully seat, and if it's not fully seated you will hear static...

@AnhEZ28 The sound is like a background whirring/buzzing noise.  It is there when I first connect the headset and then will disappear but then reappear.  I have tried 3 different headsets and the same noise is there on them all, so I know it isn't headset related.

@billsey I have made sure that the jack is pushed all the way in and still get the same buzzing/whirring noise.

@Chopper1885 does this noise occur when the laptop is charging?

@AnhEZ28 Yes.  I unplugged it from charge and the noise stops.  As I WFH I tend to have it plugged most of the day.

@Chopper1885 try different outlets in your house as it could be from electrical noise interference. Does the charger plug has 2 or 3 pins?

@AnhEZ28 I am UK based so it is a 3 pin plug.  I had it plugged in to an extension so I have moved to a direct wall plug socket and still get the same noise though not as loud.

@Chopper1885 do you have any device that plugs in the USB port? Or the headset will make noise only when the charger is plugged in?

I have both a mouse and keyboard that can plug into the USB but not a headset that has USB.  The headset noise is only there when the charger is plugged in, if take off using electricity then no noise feedback.

@Chopper1885 try to unplug both of them but I'm thinking that is not the problem. Try to update the BIOS and the audio driver.

I wouldn't know what to run.  I am not very techie.  I looked at BIOS but don't know what to select, same with the audio driver.

@Chopper1885https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8864?b=1 in this site choose the windows version that you are running on.
For the audio driver, extract the file and run the setup.exe
Check your BIOS version by pressing windows key + r and typing dxdiag. Post the screenshot here if possible.

We'd have to see the Sound tab on that app to get anything from it...
