I've found a useful article on this site about fitting a hard drive to my Travelmate P2 laptop, but I can't find anything about the specs required for the hard drive. Can anyone advise?

Thanks

OK, your P214-52 supports two drives, one an M.2 and one a 2.5" SATA. The M.2 slot supports SSDs of any size with a NVMe x2 or x4 speed. The SATA connection is SATA3, so about 1/4 the speed of the NVMe x4. Form factor on the M.2 is 2280, there is no mounting point for the shorter designs. Your 526W SKU has a 256GB NVMe drive in the M.2 slot, likely the Kingston RBU-SNS8154P3/256GJ1.
So, your choices are to add a 2.5" drive, I'd suggest a reasonably big SSD because it will be faster and more robust than a HDD or to replace the 256GB SSD with a larger model.

There have been literally hundreds of different P2 models over the years, the full model number should be something like P2xx-xxx-xxxx. Most support a standard 2.5" SATA drive, either an HDD or SSD, though some only have M.2 connectors. We can look up what is correct for yours once we know which model it is.
