Hi There,
I have an acer spin 3, and every so often (sometimes after a few days sometimes a two or three week gap) the touchpad cursor disappears, i've checked all the touchpad drivers and the only thing that seems to bring it back is re-setting the laptop and re-installing windows which is very frustrating, does anybody know how to stop the touchpad cursor disappearing? Thanks

    Hi,
Go to Acer support site and download  Serial Driver, then go to Device Manager, expand System Devices and uninstall Intel Serial IO Host controller driver, install the downloaded driver and see whether it helps.

Yes.  You can uninstall all the three options.    When you restart the computer it will automatically install the drivers.

If the cursor disappears, please follow the steps given below

Please look at the top row on your computer keyboard.   You can see the key f6 and f7.    One of the key will be having the hand symbol with fingers.    The key which shows the hand symbol with fingers is the touch pad key.

Try fn + f6 or f6 alone  or  fn + f7 or f7 alone on keyboard to disable and enable the touchpad.

Please look at the key f6 and f7 key on keyboard. You can see the hand symbol with fingers. That denotes the touchpad function key. On some models it will be on f6 and some models it will be on f7. So we need to use the right key depending upon the laptop model. If fn + f7 is not working then we have to use f7 alone to make it to work. On some old laptop models there will be a separate button right  next to touch pad area which is below the space bar.  It is used to turn on and off the touch pad.  On some old models it will be right next to power button. On all new models, f7 key is used to enable and disable the touch pad.  If you would like to disable and enable the touchpad, please press and hold  fn key on the keyboard and then press f6 or f7 once. If the touchpad is not getting disabled you can either press f6 alone or f7 alone without holding the fn key. It is used to enable or disable the touchpad..

After disabling and enabling the touchpad check how it is working..

If it is still not working
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
go to drivers - Install the i/o drivers first and then install the touch pad driver

Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful

Click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

Please click YES if I answered your question

    Hi,
Go to Device Manager, expand Human Interface devices, Mice and other pointing devices and post the picture, right click HID compliant mouse and select Properties, move to Details tab, select Hardware IDs using dropdown arrow, post the picture of Value window as shown in my snip, thanks.

    Hi Brummyfan2
I've followed your instruction and added the screenshot below, also i don't know if it will help but three days ago i installed the free windows 11 update and as soon as it was installed the touchpad cursor re-appeared and was working fine for three days then today it has completely disappeared again.

    Hi,
You need to select Hardware IDs in Property window and post the Value window(compare with my snip in my previous post), so that I can see which touchpad you have, whether it's Synaptics or Elan.
You can also right click I2C HID Device with yellow triangle warning sign and select update driver.

I tried to update the device with the yellow triangle and it said the best driver for your device is already installed

Right click this HID Device, uninstall the driver, reboot the laptop and see what happens.

I did that and the touchpad cursor re-appeared but was frozen and didn't move then around a minute later it completely vanished again. I checked the device manager and the 12C HID Device has re-appeared but it doesn't have the yellow triangle warning now.

  • Try disconnecting the lithium battery and the touchpad connector:
