WiFi antenna cable snapped for Acer E5-573g-59c3.

What are my options here? I know of usb WiFi adapters but are they just as fast? Replacing the antenna itself seems like a pain unless there’s one you can just plug in and not have to feed around the screen.

@muradomar24 the wifi might work with only 1 antenna cable or you can use a USB Wifi adapter.

Both the cables snapped. Should I try to replace it or buy a USB adapter? Are the usb ones just as good?

@muradomar24 replacing the cable will be much better than using the USB wifi adapter in terms of portability. If you don't want any risk of breaking LCD or other components, then you can get a good quality USB Wifi adapter.

Is there any antennas that you don’t have to feed around the screen? That’s really the reason mine broke
  • If the wlan main and aux cables are broken or damaged and you do not intend to replace this cable, it would be interesting to insulate them, so that they do not come in contact with the main board and do not damage the components.

Now, if you are changing the main and aux cables, you have to disassemble the laptop and the display, see:

@muradomar24 can you post the picture of both antenna cable and the wifi card? There is another way is that you can buy antenna cable that can install external antenna by feeding the cable through the vent or CD drive but this will look ugly in the reality so you choose a USB Wifi adapter for temporary solution.

I provided the model so if you have a picture of how it would go through a vent that would be nice. I just don’t want the antenna to break again from the screen. If it isn’t worth it I’ll just do the easy way

@muradomar24 yes, that is the one that I'm talking about but you should get antennas with MHF4 connectors as this Wifi card is M.2 interface.

Doesn’t it have mhf4 it says it I think. If so where do you put the antenna other than the screen?

@muradomar24 it says not compatible for m.2 ngff card in the picture. Might be behind the laptop screen.

Check my link again the one I sent and the screenshot are different models. I believe mine is m2 compatible. If I buy this couldn’t you just plug it in and leave it in the bottom case?

So can I leave it inside the case after plugging it in because I don’t want it to break again around the screen?

@muradomar24 yes, stick to somewhere that it won't obstruct you when closing the back cover. Test the wifi speed before you screw in the case.

Ok lastly, does it matter which antenna goes where like the black and white ones that originally come with the laptop?

So I installed the antenna and did a speedtest and my connection isnt very good. I left the intenna where the second harddrive would be. Do I have to take off the adhesive or does that not matter?

@muradomar24 take the adhesive and stick it to something like the back cover. Metal parts might interfere with the signal.
