Windows 11 upgrade on Acer aspire (ES1-523-67r1)

I've upgraded to Win 11 following HDD failure. I created a restore stick from my new Acer that is Win 11. Worked a treat.

All's well but touchpad isn't working. The drivers on the site are for Win 10. But this site says they are the same? I'm not at all sure what to do with the files. Except that they must be installed in a certain order. I surely should do one of those checkpoint restore points prior? And the 'find your serial number' Acer  offering fails the 'S' (safe mode) Win 11 restriction? Will the drivers have the same issue?

the manual talks of a tray thingo in bottom left of screen - but I don't have it?

All a bit much for me. Any ideas?

Thanks

I don't know how you installed Win-11 (you might have done a vanilla install) as your laptops A8, A6 and A4 AMD CPU's are not compatible with Win-11 and the BIOS hasn't got a TPM 2.0 requirement option! AS these touchpad drivers should install through their "Setup Application" and if not, then try to install the touchpad driver through Device Manager > Action > Add Legacy Hardware and see if the Win-10 driver installs?

As that is why your touchpad driver is not compatible with whatever version of Win-11 you have installed and running? If you look at Acer Driver and Support of the ES1-523 it only has drivers for Win-10 and for the touchpads of either the Synaptics or ELANTECH which in a Win-11 compatible laptop it will work if Acer says so or if not then Acer would have had an individual compatible drivers section for Win11 for your ES1-523 which they don't! That is why the Win-10 touchpad drivers (and many more drivers) will not work with your installed and not compatible Win-11. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
