Nitro AN515-57-74 TT expand RAM and SDD I download the official ACER manuals and I can't find

Good morning everyone, I am very excited about my new Nitro 5 AN515-57-74 TT, however I would like to improve it a little, not for gamming but for the part of my university educational training.

My question is, I just downloaded the official ACER manuals and I can't find the specifications to be able to expand the RAM and the SDD

Up to how much could it expand the RAM, by default it comes with 16 gb ddr4 sodim at 3200 mHz, it could include another 16 gb ddr4 at 3200 or lower frequency RAM in the spare slot:

For the SDD it brings only 512 GB which seems very few to me, I would like to expand it with another 1tb or 2 tb disk but I don't know if it supports an M2 gen4??

Bring a HDD connector, here I think I could put a sata SDD?

I fell in love with this ACER model but if I see that it is not so transparent about what components could be attached to it to increase its performance, which is very good for not being a professional gamming, honestly I loved it and maybe I will buy a couple more of them for my children.

Argadeceria someone could guide me a little on the RAM expansion and the SDD if it supports M2 4th gen or SATA in slot 2

Hi,
You can upgrade memory up to 32GB with DDR4 3200MHz modules but one user has upgraded to 64GB, you have two M.2 SSD slots, one is for PCIe Gen4 SSD and the other for Gen3 M.2 NVMe or a M.2 SATA SSD.

It should have one gen4 NVME m.2 socket and one gen3 SATA m.2 socket with the 3050Ti gpu. The model with the 3060 GPU should have two gen4 m.2 sockets. It has two sodimm sockets that could be populated with two 8GB DDR4 sodimms or one socket with a single 16GB DDR4 sodimm. It can handle up to two 16GB DDR4 sodimms for 32GB max RAM.

Thank you very much for your answer, just one last question, I suppose that the gen4 NVME m.2 slot is where the system ssd is, if I use an external one I could install programs there and leave the main one for the operating system, I understand that the gen 4 nvme would be much faster than ssd gen 3 sata, again thank you very much for your help.

This is to avoid cloning the system to a new ssd, I think that an extra one where I install my engineering programs would be more than necessary, considering that my old lap used HDD and was somewhat slow hehe

No problem, there won't be much noticeable difference between these two generations but transferring large files may be quicker in Gen4, I think you can continue to use current 512GB as a boot drive and get another large M.2 NVMe Gen3 or Gen4 SSD and install in the second slot for storage, Gen4 SSDs will work in Gen3 slots because they are backward compatible but will run at Gen3 speeds.

JonathanHdez for all upgrades do the Crucial System Scan or look at this Nitro AN515-57-59EY RAM & SSD Upgrades as it’s the same as your laptop.

With the SSD Crucial SATA 2.5" drive, I’ve got the same problem with my AN515-56 and adding a 2.5" SATA drive. The problem that you have is what I've got and have given up😀 and that is that the SATA motherboard plug (that is a cheap and nasty plug) which Acer should never ever use, its top horizontal securing clip sides are worn and do not secure the flat SATA cable from the SSD 2.5: drive into the plug and its giving you a black screen.

Unfortunately, you can't do anything as you probably have damaged the plugs top horizontal clip that clips the flat SATA cable into the motherboard and the whole thing becomes useless unless you replace that motherboard SATA plug. As your laptop is under warranty, I would send it to Acer Support in your area and get them to connect this Crucial 2.5" SSD drive, as and if they can't, they will need to change the plug altogether or what Acer will do is change the motherboard completely. Also, and if you don't want to do that, then you have 2x M.2 drive ports on this laptop, so add another M.2 drive and use that Crucial MX500 as an external drive, which is exactly what I've done as really 2.5" SATA-3 SSD drives are becoming obsolete and especially mechanical 2.5" SATA drives.

Motherboard SATA-3 plug, if you look at this nasty cheap plug and its horizontal top clip, that clip is the only thing that secures the flat SATA cable to the motherboard, and if one side clips get damaged, then this plug is useless and that is why your SSD 2.5" drive is not connecting and you are getting a black screen.
