Why isnt my screen image displayed all the way to the edge? - Aspire E1-572P

Aspire E1-572P running Windows 10 with its original Intel HD Graphics 4400 (Touchscreen)

The display image does not fill the entire screen, leaving black bars about 1/4" on the sides, 1/8" on the top and bottom. Doesn't sound like much, but it's annoying. I suspect this started when I updated to Windows 10 since I'm pretty sure I would have noticed the issue years back when I was a student and used this computer regularly.

Resolution is set to the max (1366x768 (Recommended)), scaling 100%, refresh cannot be changed from 60. Increased scaling does not fill screen. I have tried uninstalling the driver and letting Windows find one, but there was no change.

On another forum post I found, it was recommended to reinstall the driver in compatibility mode, but I cannot locate a driver via Acer or Intel.

Acer support page for this laptop's drivers doesn't load in Chrome or Edge.

Intel page says "A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver & Support Assistant is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact Acer for the latest driver for your computer."

Please help!

Lighting isn't great in pic but at least you can see the side bar

Right click in a blank area of the screen and check "display settings".

What is it that I would be looking for?

    Hi @jake741,

    Contact acer tech support,

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact

OR book the unit for repair service,

The computer is out of warranty unfortunately, and I don't want to pay $130 for a phone call without guaranteed resolution. Also don't think I would want to pay whatever they charge for a repair for this issue which is only an annoyance.

I am an IT support tech, so I should be able to fix it myself! Was hoping someone could just point me to a driver or tell me something they had done for this issue :(

When I have seen this before, the graphics resolution did not match the screen capability. What happens if you connect a TV or external monitor ? Might try 1440x900 if available.
