Hi! First time poster here and I'm not really used to using forums such as these but I would very much appreciate any help that could be offered!

My Predator-500 has been a bit of a consistent problem since I bought it. The laptop crashes with a fatal video error very regularly whenever I'm gaming (things that a gaming laptop of this price range really should be able to run!) and the graphics card (rtx-2060) is gone when the laptop restarts. I can see it again if I show hidden devices on the device manager, but get error code 45 saying it isn't connected properly. I usually have to turn the laptop off and wait a half hour or so for the card to return again, but sometimes it takes up to an hour. I've tried limiting the clocking speed and fps which hasn't helped. I've also got fully up to date BIOS, OS, and graphics drivers. I can also rule out over-heating and I'm not aware of any physical damage. I also tried factory resetting a while ago and the problem has persisted.

I can see quite a number a number of threads online on other forums describing similar issues with Nvidia graphics cards crashing or not being detected properly on Acer Predators and it just makes me believe Acer are aware of the problem and are choosing to ignore it and sell these products anyway.

It took me a long time to save for this laptop and I'd really appreciate any help. :(

Sorry to hear that you are having such problems with your Predator-500 which I don’t know exactly which model number it is? Code 45 can be and is the cause of the following problems:

    • Code 45 Hardware device is not connected shows when you try accessing a device that it is physically connected, but Windows cannot recognize it.
    • The code 45 error in Windows 10 can be also caused by corrupt Windows registry keys, outdated device drivers, or faulty hardware.
    • Another good solution is to use a command-line tool from Windows to repair the error.

As you can see code 45 is a device not being recognised by Windows or a faulty hardware within your laptop, have a look at this guide “FIX: Hardware device is not connected (Code 45) error” as I hope it’s not that your GPU (RTX-2060) is faulty as there is no fix for a faulty GPU and you will have to get a new motherboard, as that is why this error 45 appears. Try the above fixes and see if those will fix your code 45 error.

    Hi @Sovloc,

The main reason a GPU may keep crashing is due to increased temperature. The overheating is a result from overclocking of the GPU or a slow video RAM clock. A GPU can also crash because of old drivers or a faulty power supply.
