Hello, has anyone ever tried to update the BIOS etc., within a Linux OS. For example with a live usb of Ubuntu... I use only Debian and I want to update my Bios on my Aspire 517-51 laptop. Whats your suggestion? Thank you:)

Very hazardous to apply firmware updates even from inside the Windows environment. Firmware updates are meant for machines that are exhibiting serious issues. What problem are you having with the existing BIOS firmware?

Hello and sorry for the late reply. First when I got the laptop, I had Windows and Debian on dual-boot. After some updates, something happened and the boot file for Debian got deleted. I could only boot into Windows. Then I installed only Debian but when I try to get into BIOS it just appears a little cursor on the left top and nothing happens. Do you have any idea what can I do to bring the Bios back? Thank you

Thanks. It might be helpful for other users to know how you got it back. It's the main purpose of these user forums.
