Hello everybody,
my Acer VN7 572G-54YG does not start at all. The power-LEDs are also not on when connected to the charger.

So far i did:
- Disconnected the battery to see if it starts up
- Checked that the charger has 20V voltage
- Checked if the button on the mainboard is pressed

Anything else i should try?

Thank you for your help.

What about the battery charge LED? Is it lit steady orange or steady blue with the charger plugged

Did this happen suddenly for no apparent reason?

How is this time different from your post of a year and a half ago? https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/616865/aspire-vn7-572g-54yg-only-randomly-turning-on. At the time, you did not clearly indicate whether the solution back then was the safety interlock switch or the charger was the issue. Please explain.

Back then the charger did not output the 20v continuously. I only needed to press the button on the mainboard as the laptop was disassembled and no pressure was on the button.

the main difference to that is that as mentioned above the steps that led to resolving the problem now do not help anything.

You must again double-check that the bottom cover is still pressing hard enough against the safety switch button to keep the mainboard powered.  You may have to tape a spacer on the inside of the bottom cover to press harder on the button.

I taped a piece of plastic on top of the button (17), still no improvement. No bootup, no LEDs turning on.

I just noticed that the button is stuck in the down-position sometimes.

If you repeatedly tap the button with your finger, do the LEDs flicker?

Which button are you pressing. What number? The battery reset button must be in the up position or no power will get to the mainboard. The safety switch button must be pressed down or no power will get to the mainboard. These are two different buttons for two different purposes.

    No they do not.

I am pressing button number 17 but it is stuck in the down position now. I do no longer hear a 'click' once i press it. The battery reset button on the rear is not pressed.

Yes, this is the safety switch. The points inside are probably broken and no longer making contact.  Do you think you can access the switch's two solder contacts on the mainboard with your multimeter voltage probe?

no voltage there, can i shortcircuit it somehow?

Put one multimeter probe on only one of the switch's solder contacts. Put the other probe on a ground point. If no voltage, then try the other switch solder contact relative to the same ground point.

If still no voltage on either contact, then see if you can trace where the charger voltage is lost starting from the laptop's charging jack.

Did you do a battery reset, I presume that when you say "that the button is stuck in the down-position sometimes" you mean its the pin on the base of the laptop where you have to - Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds to reset the computer (simulates removing and reinstalling the battery)?

Also is there anything wrong with the keyboard power button? As and if this power key that activates on/off of your laptop is also damaged and/or the switch is damaged then this switch could also be a reason for your laptop not turning on and needs either repairing or changing. If all the things that I've mentioned are not the cause of your problem(s) then its an internal power issue withing the circuitries that need analysing and replacing if these parts are available. Power on/off issues are many that need an experienced tech to diagnose and fix with a microscope and the right tools, parts. My suggestion as I don't know where you are or what region you are in? Is for you to look up an experienced tech that repairs these sorts of problems in your area, there are many on the web and on You Tube and two of the best are in the USA NorthbridgeFix and in the UK Electronics repair school where I'm giving you a link to a repair of a Nitro 5 thats "Not coming ON, not charging board repair", good luck and hope this helps you out.
