I have an old Acer Laptop that I purchased back in 2007 that hasn't seen any use for over 10 years.  Recently dug it out of the closet, charged the battery and fired it up.  When I try to access the internet I get a error message stating that there's a certification problem.  Windows Vista doesn't seem to work well anymore.  Is there any  hope in getting it operational again?

Likely that issue is that the browser installed on the laptop is old enough that it can't handle the current encryption methods. Use a different machine to download a newer browser and install that. Do make sure the browser you download is compatible with Vista and that it's not just an installer that connects to the net and downloads the actually installer, since that will fail for the same reason. :)
