    Hi @BLOODNUT,

Turn off the Acer laptop completely. Turn over the laptop and remove the battery. Unbolt the screws on rear cover with screwdriver and gently take it down. Free up the HDD frame and replace it with the new SSD carefully.

Absolutely. The perfect SSD for your model is a WesternDigital Blue 2.5". Should be about 2-3 times faster than the HDD. Buy a less than $10 2.5" USB-to-HDD/SSD adapter so you can clone the old HDD to the new SSD with cloning freeware like MacriumReflect or AOEMI backerupper. Then simply replace the old HDD with the new SSD and you should be done.

Don't forget to make sure the new SSD comes with cloning software. I first create a recovery drive so can easily put back if needed, then clone the old drive to the new one (so is bootable), and then replace the drive.

Lately I've been buying ACER SSDs, 960GB or 1.92TB. Comes with cloning software (download from web site).
