SSD upgrade for Aspire 5 A515-51G-5967

Hi,

I would like to replace the built-in ssd drive with an M.2 PCIe Gen. 4 NVMe ssd drive (Kingston KC3000, 1TB version).

My question to you is whether my laptop will accept this device.

While both PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 3.0 are backward and forward compatible, I’d better buy a PCIe Gen. 3.0 ssd drive when my laptop does not have a PCIe Gen. 4.0 interface because they are generally cheaper.

I would really appreciate it if you would help me get out of this.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-5967, as indicated in the subject field.

While gen4 should work in a gen3 socket, I'd buy whatever is cheapest. Right now the 1TB WesternDigitalBlue series NVME seems to be cheaper and should be perfect for your model. :)

The WesternDigital Blue m.2 NVME should work fine in all A515-51 & A515-51G series models with a single M-key m.2 SSD socket  similar to the one shown  below.

Thank you very much for your quick and gratifying reply!

May I infer from your answer that this actually applies to all Aspire 5 A515-G51-XXXX ¹ series regardless of model number?

    ¹) stands for various models.
