Hello,

So I bought Acer Aspire 3 A314-22 R3RG last month and I'm planning to add more ram into it.

As the specification said, 4GB DDR4 soldered and 1 empty ram slot. At first, I asked the seller to install my friend's used RAM module (4GB DDR4 2400MHz), the laptop won't turn on, they said it could be unsupported or bad module.

I assumed it was a bad module since it's used. Then I bought a brand new Crucial 4GB DDR4 2400MHz, but still won't turn on.

I am afraid I've got a defective Acer product. Does anyone have solution for this?

Note: The laptop runs completely normal without those modules in.

Thanks

Run the crucial scanner on your particular machine to see if it verifies socket integrity and recommends a suitable sodimm.

Your screen is black after installing new RAM because of incompatibility issues, RAM not detected by the computer, a bad RAM slot, failure to follow the right dual channel or faulty RAM sticks installed in the motherboard RAM slots.

Are you mixing XMP RAM with non-XMP RAM?

Yes I have, they recommend me Crucial DDR4-3200 8GB. I also run wmic memorychip, it says the part number is Micron Technology 4ATF51264HZ-3G2J1.

What could be incompatibility issues? Today I found out my soldered RAM speed is 3200MHz, while the module I bought was 2400, does it cause incompatibility?

    >>>Yes I have, they recommend me Crucial DDR4-3200 8GB.>>>

Then use the exact crucial sodimm part no. that's recommended by crucial scanner. Crucial guarantees what they recommend will work.

Download and run CPU-Z , you can get all the spec of your soldered RAM with the SPD tab there. When adding RAM, get one that matches the spec of the SPD tab.
