crashing Spin (713-2w-3311) related to chrome version?

About a month ago or less chromebook spin (713-2w-3311) started crashing. Its frequency picked up over about a week, it seemed, though I might have just had more tabs open.
I tried reverting to earlier chrome version, and it stopped crashing, but then when I restarted chrome it again crashed. I didn't realize that it would update automatically.
So the problem seems to be the latest build of chrome (Version 97.0.4692.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)).

I am just putting it out there to let people know and to see if others are having this issue.

It is annoying to revert to earlier version, as I have several linux programs running that are difficult to load, among other bits of settings that are lost.
A temp fix would be to stop auto-updates, but I am not sure how to do that.
Any help on that?

    Hi @aarwdc,

    Check for updates yourself

    1. Turn on your Chromebook.
    2. Connect your Chromebook to Wi-Fi.
    3. At the bottom right, select the time.
    4. Select Settings .
    5. At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS.
    6. Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
    7. Select      Check for updates.
    8. If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
