I have the Acer predator Helios 300 Ph317-51. I wanted to upgrade my internal nvme ssd from 256 to 1Tb nvme. I purchased the

“Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS100T2B0C “

But only to find out that its not compatible because my laptop wont go to start up. So i ended up returning it.
I wanna know which one to buy that is compatible with my laptop. Anyone can help me? Thanks in advance

@TingArjay that new SSD still works but you have not install Windows on it so the laptop cannot boot at all. If you need more storage, you can either get 2.5 SSD/HDD or the NVMe SSD. You will need an USB for Windows installation with you want to replace the current 256GB NVMe SSD.

Thank you and have a nice day!

This is the desktop side of the forum, but here goes nothing. Just that you know, I'm not familiar with your laptop and there seems to be many models of it out there. Can you please list the components, so that someone may be able to help you better? I think these should be enough:

    - HDD (If any.)
    - SSD (What is it? Is it a 2.5" SSD SATA III drive or M.2 SSD drive? If latter, does it have "M Key" or "B + M Key"?)

If your current 256Gb SSD is a M.2 drive and has Windows on it, just swapping it with a bigger one will not work. You have two options, a) to create Windows Installation Media on an USB stick, or b) clone your current M.2 drive to a bigger one and then swap the drives. To do this you will need an external M.2 enclosure and cloning software.

I've used Samsung SSD drives (2.5" SATA III and M.2 nvme) many years. One reason is Samsung's brilliant Data Migration Tool, that makes cloning drives easy.

Easiest is to clone the existing drive to the new one before swapping them. If your machine came with a SSD then you will want an external case for a NVMe drive in order to hold the new one while you clone from the internal. Once the clone is done just swap the drives and boot from the new one. As said elsewhere here the WD drive you tried does work in your system.
