My quesiton is can the acer nitro 5 use 240hz using hdmi 2.0? I heard some are limited to 60hz and some can go up to 240hz. My specific model is the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-50Z3. It has a i5 10300h @ 2.50Ghz and a gtx 1650. I aLso upgraded the ram to 16. I am currently using a 75hz external display connected using hdmi. This is the monitor I am planning to get: https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-25-gaming-monitor-s2522hg/apd/210-azzo/monitors-monitor-accessories              Thank you!

The HDMI cable 2.0 is perfect for higher refresher rates to use (btw, the higher refresher rates only work with HDMI and cables of the version 1.4 and above versions) and also the refresher rate depends on your GPU not what your AN515-55 OEM screen is on your laptop as that is put there for economic reasons by Acer. The RTX-3090 GPU is more than capable of running that external monitor of the Dell 240Hz refresher rate, once you have connected this monitor, go to the Win-10 desktop right click > Display settings > bottom of page Advance display settings > and see the Refresher which should have different adjustment rates that the monitor can handle and 240Hz should be there as a max, also install the NVidia RTX Experience and do the same in Control Panel > Display and set that up accordingly as doing all this will make your 25" Dell 25 Gaming Monitor - S2522HG work perfectly.
