Aspire V3-572P - No longer recognizing external monitor

Been experiencing some major slowdown during boot-up; decided to remove some of the Acer bloatware that came pre-installed on the laptop (silly me didn't do a fresh Windows install!).

As of a few days ago, my laptop will no longer recognize my monitor when I plug it in. It used to work fine, and the same monitor and cable still work on my work laptop.

Already been through the routine:
- Restarting with monitor plugged in
- Updating drivers
- Windows+P to try to force display onto second screen

The HDMI port is not visibly damaged, and my laptop still acknowledges that something is being plugged into the port (system chime + "Display Settings" shows a second display with the correct name, but it is not selectable).

Anyone have this issue? I doubt it, but could it be related to removing some of the Acer software?

Fixed the problem - posting here for posterity. Still unsure which program did it, but one of the programs took the drivers for my monitor down with it. Windows wasn't able to fix the problem automatically, but the steps in this video fixed the issue:

In case that goes down in the future,
1) Right click Start
2) Computer Management
3) Device manager in left panel
4) Select device name in main panel
5) Top, select Action > Add Legacy Hardware > Install Manually > Display Adapters > Select appropriate one (I did generic "Intel(R) HD Graphics" and that worked)
6) Power down and reboot to finish installation

Try pressing FN+F5 to toggle the external screen back on. FYI, ACER bloatware is usually not bloated but needed or makes things a lot easier. However, the generic fresh Windows install usually is bloated if some of the default or Microsoft recommended setup options are accepted. And how do I know this?---you might not ask. Your Aspire V3-572P is not a bad old laptop and should support an external monitor with no problems and run Win-10 flawlessly with no problems. I’ve been running Win-10 on a lower spec Aspire V3-571G for ages and I’ve had a 2.5” Samsung EVO 850 SSD installed also for ages with and also running 16GB RAM (2x 8GB DDR3-1866MHz modules) and this V3-571G runs exceptionally well and even fast with Win-10. I don’t know if you have upgraded your Aspire V3-572P’s HDD from its default spinner HDD? As that is one reason for slow boot speeds if you haven’t? I don’t know how much RAM you are running and what state your OS is in as Windows 10 needs to be updated all the time to its last updates and version 21H2 and OS built 19044.1466 which are all the latest as that could also be a problem for your laptop not running 100%.

With the external monitor, the V3-572P left side HDMI version 1.4a port should support any monitor including the better 144Hz refresher rate monitors and above rates. Try to see the “Display settings” are correct in Win-10, go to Desktop > right click and click Display settings > bottom page Advance display settings and see if all settings match your external monitor and if the monitor is set at No1 and default? Also you should have the NVidia GeForce Experience installed for the GeForce 840M’s settings through NVidia Control Panel > Display settings that should be set to the proper resolution of your external monitor also, have you done all this? As all these settings contribute to your external monitor being detected as of course does a faulty HDMI port plug, so have that checked out as that could have a hairline crack or due to being used for a long time the ports connection could need resoldering internally, all this could affect its connection and connectivity also.
