Nitro AN517-54 UK Charger?

I bought a Acer Nitro AN517-54 from the US, I now live in the UK.
I was wondering what charger I need to buy to fit the needs of this laptop.

If anybody could help that would be great! I currently have it working on a random C5 Power cable, with the same ac/dc adapter that came with the laptop. However battery life is significantly bad like this. I can only get 1hr use or so.

If you need any more information please let me know.

Thats odd, does it show as charging when you change the plug side?

Could you post the bottom bit of your adapter? Most should be switching power supplies and you should be able to do exactly what you h ave done and just change the kettle lead going in to get it to work!

It does show as charging, however I pretty much have to keep it plugged in all the time.
I've attached an image of the bottom of the adapter. I'm using it with a 2.5A - 250V kettle lead.

Windows says here that it has approximately 1 and a half hours remaining, however this is when I am not doing anything, if I start doing something such as browsing the web or watching a video, I get around 1 hour and a half of usage time from 100%. If I'm playing a game, I get around 30 minutes.

I had suspicions it was to-do with the way i'm charging the battery, because the laptop was advertised with around 5 - 8 hours of battery life

Do you mean when its on charge, or after you remove it from power? If its after its removed from power it isnt the charging of the battery as it doesnt matter how its charged :)  if its when its off charge, it could be a number of things, first couple of things to check are if you have any AV installed (its a killer) and what the battery wear is like. You can get the battery wear by opening CMD and typing

    powercfg /batteryreport

This will generate a HTML page where it will say the intended max charge, and the current max charge

The adaptor charger that came OEM with your AN517-54 is universal and will caters for the UK power specs as this adaptor/charger specs are: -

    • Input: 100-240V, 50-60Hz -
    • Output: 19.5V 9.23A (Power: 180W) with a
    • Connecter size: 5.5mm 1.7mm
So the power adaptor will adapt to the UK power and will charge your Nitro 5 battery accordingly and fully.
