CMOS Battery Aspire E5-576

I have a problem with one of my RAM, 1 of the ram works fine and the operating system loads correctly when it is installed by itself. The other RAM turns the computer one but only a black screen. I cannot have both installed at the same time either. I went through all the steps to get the operating system booted without the black screen, such as hard reboot, removing the battery and trying both cards alone. The last step is to take the CMOS battery out and when I did the entire case that holds the battery came out. The metal that holds the case also broke. My computer is on with just one RAM and no CMOS battery, the time is correct but the 3 key does not work. My question is, can I get the case that holds the CMOS battery repaired and what is the problem with the RAM?

First and most important is “WHAT IS YOUR LAPTOP” MODEL #? As many people like you ask general questions that are useless and impossible to answer without giving us the exact model number, this is especially with RAM as it seems that your second and new RAM that you are trying to add is probably incompatible with whatever your laptop model is? e.g. wrong capacity, wrong speed and latency etc etc. you should never ever consider that RAM compatibility has anything to do with BIOS or battery or taking out the CMOS as it does not and now you have done more damage than asking and/or using a guide like the Crucial System Scanner that will give you all the RAM and SSD drive upgrades for your laptop that Crucial makes and its 100% compatible.

Adding to @StevenGen's comment, we need full model number. PCs with same model number but different sub-model numbers will make a difference too.

Are you sure the two RAM sticks are having the same spec?

Thank you so much, I appreciate your response. The laptop is a Acer Aspire E5-576, model no. N16Q2. The RAM is not new. I took one ram out at a time to see if they both worked and the one that leaves the screen black is 4GB. I hope that helps.

I was told that removing the CMOS battery may help with the black screen. I do know that the CMIS battery is for the time and date and memory chip.

The RAM is also 1Rx8 PC3L - 12800S

Make sure you are not mixing PC3L with PC3 memory modules. I have seen many cases of people mixing DDR3 and DDR3L modules and having problems booting up.

No, I am not. I am using the original RAM. When I have turned on the computer a few times I would get the no bootable device. I would reinstall the Windows 10 operating system and the computer would work properly for a few weeks. I tested both of the original RAM and one is working fine and booting Windows properly every time. When I tested the other RAM by itself the computer would turn on but only the black screen. So it's a bad RAM. I watched a video that said to hard boot the computer, test all the cables and lastly to remove the CMOS battery. I know the CMOS is to keep the internal clock and memory working when the computer is turned off. When I attempted to take the CMOS battery out the case came out a broke. Can that be repaired and what is wrong with the RAM?
