I have a laptop Acer Aspire e15 e5 575tg 51r2.
I've recently installed Photoshop and Lightroom and since then, my laptop is very slow. It takes ages to edit a photo.
Would extending the RAM (from 12 to 16) be a good idea to solve this problem?

    Hi,
You have enough memory in your laptop, it's very difficult to pinpoint the slowness of your laptop, it could be the spinner HDD drive or other background programs running, anyway, could you please post the Task Manager picture showing the Memory tab.

You'll find the data in the Word-file attached to this message.

Yes, you have enough RAM available, I think installing a M.2 SSD will improve the performance of the laptop.

Here are the same data, but with Photoshop and Lightroom activated.
Will a M.2 SSD still be enough according to you ?

Yes, if you are running out/high usage of memory you can increase the memory to 16GB and see whether it helps.

Didn't know Photoshop can be this memory hungry. Did you load all your photos in it?

Not in Photoshop. In Lightroom, yes (in RAW). Could that explain the slowness?

As long as the RAM usage is approaching 100%, the PC will be slow for sure.

Also, are you running third party anti-virus software? If so, it will contribute to the slowness.

I'll bet if you just load a few photos to be worked on into your program, it should not eat up so much memory and will run well.

    Thanks for your input.
My research learned that I'll have to invest into a laptop with higher RAM.
