Hello,

I purchase a Samsung SSD to replace the HDD in Swift SF315-52. I've done this sort of thing before with other laptops, but for the acer - when I try to boot with the new SSD (which hasn't been formatted), instead of getting a boot menu option to boot from USB, I the laptop remains frozen with the Acer logo showing on the screen - no error, and the machine isn't attempting to boot from usb (no light flashing on the USB). In order to get into the BIOS I either need to boot it without a drive, or with the old HDD. I even tried booting with the old SSD - got the boot menu, and selected boot from USB (which has the new windows to install), and then switch the drives while the laptop is on -- the OS seemed to install, but then there was an error as windows was finalizing (something about boot device issue).

@tcsmith314 make sure that M.2 SSD is plugged in all the way. It will be better if you can find another PC or laptop that has M.2 slot for testing.

Thank you and have a nice day!

What USB are you trying to boot from? Have you setup the BIOS to allow booting from unknown devices and to have the F12 boot menu enabled?

    Hi @tcsmith314,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Shutdown the unit.
    2. Unplug the cables connected to the unit.
    3. At bottom of the unit there will be a small tiny pin hole with a battery symbol close to it. Take a pin or a paper clip insert into it you feels like pressing a button hold it for 20-30 seconds.
