Hi,

Has anyone installed an SSD drive in their Acer Aspire? What SSD drive did you use? Any instructions on how to do it along with windows 10?

Yes, you can install the 2.5" Western Digital Blue series SSD up to 2TB in this laptop. The 1TB model is about the best deal right now.
    (1) First remove the battery pack.
    (2) Then remove two screws from the HDD door.
    (3) Pull the tab on the old HDD to slip it out., slip the new Western Digital drive. Put everything back together.
    (4) Then use Microsoft Win10 USB media creation installation tool to make a bootable Win10 installation USB stick.
    (5) The enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2 on startup and make sure the F12 option is enabled in the BIOS Main tab. Then press F10 to save setting and exit
    (6) Insert the Win10 installation USB drive, then turn machine back on and immediately  press F12 to boot from the USB to install Win10 on the new SSD

Thank you so much for your advice and information.
I was a bit confused about windows installation but I think I can sort this out as I have watched couple of youtube videos about it. :)

You can clone or migrate the old drive onto the new drive  before installing the new drive. All you need is an inexpensive 2.5" USB-to-HDD/SSD adapter (less than $10usd) and  clone/migration freeware like MacriumReflect. After cloning the old drive to the new drive, just replace the old drive with new drive and you're in business. Except with a much faster SSD response. Good luck.
