A transparent box has appeared on the screen of my Swift 1 and my cursor won't work over that area

A transparent box has appeared on the screen of my Swift 1 and if my cursor is hovering over that area of the screen it always goes onto the circle (like the egg timer) showing it is busy.
This happens whichever page/browser/desktop I'm on so I think it's an issue with the screen. Initially I thought it could it be something like a chat box hasn't shut down properly, but I've checked task manager and there is nothing running apart from Edge  & Chrome.  This has been happening for a while so shutting done doesn't get rid of it.
It's really frustrating as I can't click on anything on webpages if the button or link is in that area of the screen, which it often is!
Thanks in advance if you can help :)

Try booting in Safe Mode. That would remove the possibility it's an app running wild in the background. You could have an area like that with a touch screen or the touchpad, but it would be extremely unlucky for it to affect all input devices at once.
