XB273K Why does my monitor only rotate sideways in one direction?

I have the Acer XB273K and I've been putting this question off for a while because it doesn't really affect me that much, but now I'm just curious.

The screen itself functions perfectly,, however the monitor is just barely imperfect-- it tilts forwards and backwards, swivels left and right, moves up and down, but it will only rotate clockwise. For some reason, attempting to rotate counterclockwise seems impossible, and I do not want to break it. Is that purposeful? If not, could I potentially get a refund? I like lying down in bed and using my monitor as a little TV and if I can get this to work it would really be worth the money I put into this big guy.

It has to do with the geometries of the screen. When in landscape mode the zero, zero point is at bottom left, so all screen paints go left to right in sequence. When you rotate the monitor to portrait mode the zero, zero shifts to what was the upper left. All the monitor and system have to discuss about it was that the resolution changed from landscape to portrait, without having to figure out which direction it rotated. To be able to rotate the other direction they'd have to be able to differentiate between left turn and right turn, and that takes extra sensors.

I meant the physical monitor itself, not the screen orientation. Is that what you're referring to? Or are you saying the monitor itself bases rotation off of what the screen orientation is?! If so that's pretty funky but okay lol

I realize now the monitor only rotates so it can also be positioned as a vertical monitor. It isn't meant to just rotate 45 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise, but rather just 90 degrees clockwise. Sorry for the trouble y'all.
