Forced update and then unable to update so stuck in loop

My computer decided (against my wish) to update. Then it says that it can't update so it tries to undo the update and literally gets stuck in a loop. So I have to manually refresh the computer but after a few days it forces me to update. I use this for class and work and don't have time to spend hours every few days dealing with this.

So I turned off the automatic update because it keeps doing this every few days, but it still keeps trying to update (without my consent).

This is becoming frustrating to the point I'm about to buy a new computer (which of course won't be Acer if I can't fix this).

I have another Acer computer my kids use and have had no issues at all.

A google search turned this up. It may work but I haven't tried.

Right click wifi icon in tray. Click open network and internet settings. Click status in left pane. Click properties for wifi connection. Scroll down page to turn on metered connection.

    Hi @ Yetharius
    1. Make sure the updates really are stuck.
    2. Turn it off and on again.
    3. Check the Windows Update utility.
    4. Run Microsoft's troubleshooter program.
    5. Launch Windows in Safe Mode.
    6. Go back in time with System Restore.
    7. Delete the Windows Update file cache yourself.
    8. Launch a thorough virus scan.

    Hi @Yetharius
You need to reset/clear your Windows Update caches: Reset Windows Update in Windows 10 | Tutorials (tenforums.com)
This method will also delete your Update History (no worry, previous updates are still there). Enable Windows Update in Services (Automatic Trigger-Start), Windows Update Medic Service (Manual) and Update Orchestrator Service (Manual) that should always be running. If you have enabled all other default services you should be good to go with your updates unless there are 3rd party driver, AV issues (not W10 compatible), turn off 3rd party Virus Checkers, use Windows Defender instead.
