Hi,

I own an Acer Swift 3 SF314-51-76EY and recently it has developed a problem which causes it to no longer start up properly. It has been taken to a technician who claims there is some sort of short circuit in the motherboard which needs to be replaced.

as far as I know the cpu and ram are also integrated within the motherboard which causes it to be quite expensive, so ideally this replacement should also provide some improvement to those components(if possible).
Could you provide a list of compatible motherboards and possible ways of purchasing them?
Thank you in advance!

    Hi @ Wazzledazzle
Go to Desktop and Workstation Processors. Choose from the list the family (example: 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processors). Choose from the list the processor you need and click Select. A list of compatible motherboards will be displayed.

No, "all RAM" does not fit into "all motherboards". There's DDR, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4 - and various speeds within each of those. The motherboard vendor website should list what's compatible

There are several motherboard options for the SF314-51 models. They came with either 4GB or 8GB memory and either an i3, i5 or i7 CPU. So the highest end version is the 8GB/i7-6500U version. The Acer part number for that one is: NB.VDF11.006.

I just don't think it is economical to replace the motherboard, CPU and even RAM for your laptop, parts and labors included.

Buying an entry level laptop with decent speifications may be just aabout  $350. I got one and happy about it.
