In the end I think this was a Kernel issue. I rebuilt the OS as 20.3 using 5.13 -30 .. The Display link issue is better supported with this kernel also.

What does  the following commands show you?

    #showninfo
    sudo iw list

    # Check the dmesg boot log for anything about the wireless
    sudo dmesg | egrep 'wifi|ath|wlp'

    # Check the lspci , its there but just want to check
    lspci

    # check if rfkill is throwing a fit
    rfkill list all

When posting term output you can wrap it in the "code" to make it a tad neater ala:

    root@fedora ~]# rfkill list all
    0: hci0: Bluetooth
    	Soft blocked: yes
    	Hard blocked: no
    1: phy0: Wireless LAN
    	Soft blocked: no
    	Hard blocked: no

What was the original factory-installed OS if any?

    (1) Did you wipe both Win10 and hidden factory reset partition?
    (2) Did you disable Win10 fast startup, or do a charger-unplugged pinhole mainboard discharge, before installing Mint?
    (3) If you already posted a thread on this issue to the Mint forums, send a PM to Altair4 to try to get his input on it. Keep me in the MintForum loop and I'll chime in whenever appropriate

    (3) If you already posted a thread on this issue to the Mint forums, send a PM to Altair4 to try to get his input on it. Keep me in the MintForum loop and I'll chime in whenever appropriate

Please post a screenshot of Gparted if possible. If Win10 is still there, you should see at least one ~1GB NTFS recovery partition like shown below.

Sorry, all the Windows partitions seem to be gone. So this means you did NOT select the default Mint option to install Mint alongside Windows. Not a particularly good situation if the ACER BIOS firmware has to be updated.

    (1) Does the RJ45 connecttion to the router work? You may need it .
    (2) Have you PM'd Altair4 yet? He's probably the best Mint wifi guru.

Trying to update the BIOS outside of the Windows environment is much riskier than running the Windows BIOS update executable. Storage capacity is so big and cheap now, it makes good sense to have a minimal Windows dual boot setup for the few important tasks that are just plain easier and safer to do from the Windows environment. Think of dual boot as having the best of both operating systems when you really need both. If you already posted one, please send me a PM with the link to your Mint thread. I'll see what I can do.

JackStarz>>>I want to get my wifi up. lost it on mint 20 instaLL.>>>

How do you know it was working before? I just checked one of my other machines that has the same QCA6174 card. No issues with Mint.  Jack E/NJ
