Aspire 5 A515-54-34QG ignores region/language selection on initial install

Picked up an Aspire 5 A515-54-34QG here in Colombia yesterday but went to install it and, whatever region/language I select on the initial setup screen I end up with a Spanish(Mexico) system. I then can't change it to English afterwards as "the license doesn't support multiple languages" (or words to that effect). I've reset and retried several times to no effect.
I don't need multiple languages, I want English.
Is there any way to install English or should I return it and buy a different make?

If you head to start -> setting -> about does it show the version as single language?
If it does that's a bit cheaky of ms, locking a os to a single language must have cost them more than they will ever make by people upgrading ..
A few users have suggested work arounds here : https://superuser.com/questions/1537466/how-to-change-language-of-windows-10-single-language-without-format
But I've never encountered this before so it may be easier to return and change it0
