Hi,

Bought A515-45 and installed Win11 but there's no biometric device under Device Manager. Installed "Fingerprint_ELANTECH_3.6.11001.10702_W11x64_A" drivers from Acer site and a recommended Chipset driver but still nothing.

Any suggestions ?

Does the original vendor advertisement for this machine claim the optional extra-cost fingerprint reader was in fact included with your machine?

    >>>It's Ok if Biometric device is not there but is why Facial Recognition is also not available while HelloFace.inf is present and Windows Hello Face is installed as an additional feature.>>>

Hello Face is just a piece of bundled software that's included with most machines whether or not they can actually be used. To use its facial recognition capability, like it's fingerprint capability, the A515-45 needs optional extra-cost hardware. In this case, an InfraRed sensing camera along with the usual visible light sensing camera.

Did it work before you installed Win11?

    It's a new machine, Win11 is a first setup.

If the driver installed without an error message, what happens when you try to set it up as in the following link?

It opens Account > Sign-in options but without actual options

You can see that Facial recognition is also not available. Is it possible that Biometric device should be enabled somewhere else in Windows 11 ?

As the matter of fact you are right. Although I had initial info that machine has a fingerprint reader, after a double-check it turned out to be the opposite. Thanks for the hint.

It's Ok if Biometric device is not there but is why Facial Recognition is also not available while HelloFace.inf is present and Windows Hello Face is installed as an additional feature. Unless Win11 has some specific camera requirements I am not aware of.
