I have an Acer Spin Chromebook with 128GB SSD. A system message is telling me that the hard drive is full, yet there are absolutely no large files on the hard drive. I have very little Apps installed. It is so odd. Any ideas what is going on here?

I think I figured it out. I use Adobe LightRoom CC Mobile extensively. It's very possible that there were tons of photos in the trash/delete folder, which is only accessible via the App. I will only know for sure if it happens again, because I already did a Powerwash.

I did a POWERWASH and it solved the issue. I guess there were system files that I couldn't access. Anyone has any insight?

128GB is a very low capacity drive, get a bigger SSD like a 512GB SSD (Samsung is a great drive to replace the OEM SSD) and then clone your 128GB to the 512GB, its a very simple solution.

Hey Steve, thanks so much for responding. Your response doesn't answer my question. I do not have any large files on the internal 128GB SSD, therefore is more than enough space. All more file storage is external or on the cloud. ChromeOS was notifying me that my HD is full when there was probably 100MB of personal files on it. Obviously some hidden system files built up over time and filled up the HD. A simple PowerWash solved this issue, but just curious if there is a way to prevent this from happening again.

Actually, for a Chromebook a 128GB is more than enough. My guess is something is saving log files on you and they wouldn't be normally visible like downloads are.
