My notebook has AMD Ryzen 5 5500U and comes with 4GB soldered and another 4GB slot. It comprises a 16GB DDR4 3200MHz memory, but it doesn't work.
With the new memory:
The notebook turns the fan on for a second, stops, and then turns the fan back on straight. The screen doesn't show anything, I can't access the BIOS. There's an attempt until I discover a Windows error saying it needed to be fixed, but trying again I couldn't get to that screen. I also didn't want to leave too much time to not force the SSD, which I noticed was heating up.
I went back to the memory that came and is working normal.
Problem Memory: XPG Hunter Memory, 16GB, 3200MHz, DDR4, CL20, For Notebook - AX4S320016G20I-SBHT.
It has an XMP function, which researching I saw isn't supported by Acer, but shouldn't it at least turn on the notebook?
My idea now is to return a memory and try to buy another one, but I don't know if the problem was just the XMP or there's some other detail that I don't understand.
What memory can I use?
Can I get a 4GB + 16GB dual channel setup? What do I need to pay attention to this?
Does the memory frequency need 3200MHz? And the notebook supports it all?
