R240HY monitor (4 years old) Is suddenly flickering (best description I can give)

I have had to lower my refresh to 50 Hz to stop the flickering.  I've tried multiple HDMI cables, I have powered it off, unplugged it and held the power button down as suggested in other posts, my graphics drivers are up to date.  It also flickers when I attach it to my laptop. (the laptop monitor doesn't flicker) I have a 1060 6GB graphics card and am using Nvidia Geforce for my games.
I have searched many discussion boards about refresh rate and usually a higher refresh rate is suggested to correct flickering.  Mine however only stops when I lower it.
Is the monitor toast?  Any help is much appreciated.

There are plenty of people in your shoes with the changes for Windows 11. I expect we will see a spike in new system sales over the Xmas holidays in excess of what a normal year looks like. I use three monitors on my desktop system, two of them are 28" (side by side, a 4K and a 3K) and one is a little smaller (extra wide though, and above the other two). I'd take a look at what space you have available and get the largest monitor that will fit.Higher resolution than 1080P will give you more space on the larger screen... Too high of resolution and you'll end up scaling your desktop to allow things like your icons to be readable. :)

Have you tried a different power adapter? When they are older they can sometimes start giving marginal output and that can act the same as dirty power or line interference.

Thank you so much for your help.  I just tried a couple of other adapters and unfortunately it didn't make a change in the behavior.  I think a new monitor might be in order.  Now to find a reliable brand. (sigh) I expect I will soon be updating my pc as well.  Finding an affordable monitor fit for the future will be a challenge but important.  I'm obviously not very tech savvy. lol
