Swift 314-54 - can I connect multiple external screens?

I just got this laptop assigned to me for a new remote work role. I was all excited to use a USB-C dock to connect 2 hdmi samsung monitors to it. However I discovered on the forums here that the 314-54 doesn't have display supported on the USB-C port?

Is there another way for me to run two external monitors? My second monitor is taunting me with it's sad blank face... Work offered to send me whatever adaptors I need, but I don't want to requisition something if it won't work.

I do a lot of CRM work and could really use the extra work-space.

Hi @WMImpact,

Make sure your cables are connected properly to the new monitors, then press Windows logo key + P to select a display option. ... Select Start > Settings > System > Display. Your PC should automatically detect your monitors and show your desktop. If you don't see the monitors, select Multiple monitors > Detect.

Obviously that won't help if you don't have the monitors connected and running.

There are a bunch of different SF314-54 models, but the solution will be the same for almost all of them. What you need to put more than one external monitor on is to put a smart dock on one of the faster USB ports (USB 3.0 or USB-C) and let the dock generate to video for you. There are lots of those docks on the market, you just need to stay clear of the ones that rely on DisplayPort Alt Mode if it's a USB-C dock. Expect to pay around $100ish for one, though I haven't done an exhaustive search for the best prices...

My issue is the only USB-C port is not display enabled. I haven't checked if any of the other ports are USB 3.0 though. Good point

That is why you pick a smarter dock. It generates video signals for you, so doesn't require the DP alt mode. It treats the USB-C as a faster version of USB 3.0...
