Ram question for Aspire XC-704G Desktop

I had a old HP desktop which hasn't worked in some time and was wondering if I could use its RAM chip on my Aspire XC-704G Desktop.

Yes, the Aspire XC-704G and some similar models use low power components, like the laptops do, to give a more energy efficient system than the typical desktop. Though that doesn't mean any of the parts were taken directly off a laptop design. The memory supported is DDR3L 1.35V 1600/1333/1066 SoDIMMs (2GB or 4GB) dual channel up to 8GB total memory. You get the best performance when you have two SO-DIMM sticks that match and run at the highest speeds, so two DDR3L 1600MHz 4GB sticks would give you the max memory at the max speed. Note that DDR3 and DDR3L are different, the DDR3L runs at a lower voltage and uses less power at 1.35V, DDR3 is at 1.5V and not compatible.

Yeah, it wouldn't work even if it were the right form factor. It's DDR2, not DDR3L, and 667MHz not 1066/1333/1600 MHz.

XC-704G and XC-704 either comes with N3050 or N3700, both are Intel's mobile CPU's.

By definition, mobile CPU's uses mobile RAM.

SO-DIMM = notebook/laptop RAM.

Basically the only difference between XC-704G and a notebook is Acer putting in a Realtek 5.1 audio chip in the XC-704G. A notebook would have a Realtek ALC262 stereo audio chip.

Hey MistaJ, just for your info, this is the Aspire XC-704G memory specs and also its drive specs are of the SATA 2.0 but you can fit the new SATA-3 6Gb/sec of either 3.5" HDD's or 2.5" SSD's as RAM and an SSD will be a considerable upgrade to the performance for this desktop, if you are willing to spend that sort of money on this rig?
