Hi. I have purchased a patriot 16 gb RAM for this laptop but after installing it just dowsn't start and I get a black screen without any option to enter BIOS or anything! The specs for the RAM are:

Patriot Memory Signature Series SODIMM DDR4 2400 MHz PC4-19200 16GB (1x16GB) C17 Memory Module - PSD416G240081S

I have doubled checked that it sits properly in the slot.

It works fine if I remove this RAM!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Sorry, maximum replaceable RAM tested and recommended in the specsheet for this model is 8GB DDR4 sodimm 2666MHz or 3200MHz for a total of 12GB RAM. Due to possible production changes, you should double check this by going to crucial.com and running their scanner on your machine for compatible RAM upgrades.

JackE, thank you very much. Not sure why its been mentioned as being upgradable with additional 16 GB RAM in the following web site:  https://www.laptopspirit.fr/296148/acer-aspire-3-a315-34-c0re-pc-portable-15-pas-cher-noir-bureautique-fin-et-leger-pour-petit-budget.html
    Its in French though.

Maybe a misprint. Maybe not. That's why you should run the crucial.com scanner on the machine just to make sure.

The thing is on crucial.com they say that the Acer Aspire 3 A315-34 supports a maximum memory size of 12GB, or is it because it's a specific version of the Acer Aspire 3 A315-34 that supports 16GB?

As mentioned earlier, It might be due to mainboard production changes for the A315-34 model series which are usually unannounced and which often have dozens of submodels with full model numbers such as A315-34-c22h. That's why it's important to run the scanner on your particular submodel.

Oh my bad I forgot you mentioned that, also I realized I made a mistake, I said it supports 12GB of RAM when you already mentioned that as well, I mistook 16GB for 12GB some how. Thank you for the reply.
