Hi,

I got an Aspire A515-46-R14K a couple of weeks ago and upgraded to Windows 11 as well as upgraded memory to 20GB. Yesterday I added a second hard drive (SK Hynix Gold S31 SSD, 500GB), which is recognized by both BIOS and Windows Device Manager. However, File Explorer does *not* recognize the drive. Is there something I need to do to have it recognized by File Explorer? Thanks so much!

EDIT: changed drive size from 1TB to 500GB

Press WIN+R. Enter 'diskmgmt.msc'. Right click on the new drive and initialize it.

Thanks for the reply but it didn't work. Here's a screenshot of my Disk Management. As you can see, the upper part shows only "Disk 1" but the lower half shows both "DIsk 0" (the one not registering) and "Disk 1."

Right click Disk0 and initialize it.

Sorry, I forgot to say I did initialize the drive; the screenshot was from after; also opened the case to check connections and everything was fine. Just realized I didn't mention the laptop came a 256GB NVMe SSD drive; not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I figured out the problem and could kick myself for forgetting something so basic. It's been a great *many* years since I've had to add storage and forgot you needed to create a volume and format the drive. Oh well, lesson (re) learned I guess. Thanks for your help @JackE :)
