After doing some research and checking in HWinfo i saw that my laptop supports nvme ssd's. I bought a crucial p1 500GB m.2 nvme ssd and installed in the laptop. The ssd is detected in windows and is shown as a local disk and the device is all healthy. But in bios in the boot option i dont see any ssd connected apart from the hdd and the cd/dvd rom. While installing new OS i tried selecting the ssd but it threw an error saying please ensure disk controller is enabled in bios. Please advice on how to get this fixed and install OS on my ssd.

UEFI BIOS will only boot from the old drive that has its hidden EFI boot partition in the BIOS memory. It's not set up to dual boot with two versions of Win10 on two different bootable media.

If you want to boot from the new NVME, you must first set and save a BIOS supervisor password. Then reenter the BIOS with the password and disable secutre boot. Then temporarily disconnect the old drive and try to boot from the new NVME. The BIOS memory should then record the new NVME's hidden EFI partition and boot from it. It will be the new C : \.  You can then re-connect the old drive and it should appear as a normal  D : \ drive in FileExplore
