    (1) It might help to reveal your full ACER model number. For example A515-54
    (2) Please post a phone photo of your BIOS Information tab if possible.
    (3) What Linux distribution were you trying to install? For example, LinuxMint 20.2 Cinnamon
    (4) Was installation meant to be dual boot?
    (5) How did you prepare installation USB stick? For example, with an iso on Rufus GPT partition scheme, FAT 32

Please also answer these questions posted earlier. This laptop as configured will only support 32-bit operating systems. It also has very limited 32GB capacity emmc boot chip that cannot be changed.

    (3) What Linux distribution were you trying to install? For example, LinuxMint 19.3 32-bit.
    (4) Was installation meant to be dual boot?
    (5) How did you prepare installation USB stick? For example, with an iso on Rufus GPT partition scheme, FAT 32

EMMC partition #2 may have been corrupted. You must try to clean/delete EMMC partition 2 using GPartEd which should be on the USB installation  boot stick.

    Hi Jack

Many thanks I will try later.

Would there be a better distro to use instead and format whole drive at install and start again
and best  file type to use please ?

Yes, there are probably better lighter weight choices with the way your machine is currently configured. Sort of at the ragged edge of running a 64-bit OS especially with only a 32GB capacity EMMC. Nonetheless, I suggest trying to salvage EMMC partition 2 and try installing 20.04  again. If the same thing happens, then it might suggest that the EMMC storage capacity is just to small and is being corrupted by the installation. There are ways to get around this issue but might be better to consider a lighter weight distro at that time if you don't want to spend any money on this laptop.

    (1) What did the EMMC volume look like immediately after formatting with GPartEd? Was partition 2 marked as EXT4 file system?
    (2) What does the EMMC immediately after trying to install 20.04?
