Acer Nitro 515-43 GPU fan not spinning

I noticed yesterday that my laptop was dropping frames for no obvious reason. Upon opening NItrosense, I noticed that the GPU fan was not spinning, but the CPU fan was working fine.

Upon turning the laptop over to investigate, I noticed that the fan would start spinning when the laptop was upside down, but would stop spinning again when I returned to upright. 

I removed the back of the laptop, and there doesn't seem to be anything obvious preventing the fan from spinning (debris/dust, etc).

Does anyone have the same issue or know of a solution that could help to fix this?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and also the fan from the gpu? Then, connect the gpu fan and finally, connect the lithium battery.
