I have lost access to the Task Manager in my Aspire 5740. Is there a way to enable the program

    Interesting.

Pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ESC should immediately bring Task Manager up.

THat did not do anything for me. I thought the series was Ctrl alt delete to get Task Manager.

CTRL+SHIFT+ESC is the direct keyboard shortcut for Task Manager.

CTRL+ALT+DEL - Shows task manager in Windows XP if the welcome screen is enabled. Otherwise displays an NT-style menu, with the option of launching the task manager; likewise for Vista or later operating systems.

If you are unable to get to Task Manager with either of those key combinations, are you getting an error message anywhere?

When did this begin to occur?

What software or hardware has been recently added?

Any updates or changes to the system?
