Repair Switch Alpha 12 display stopped working

My wife's Switch Alpha 12 display stopped working this morning, so I took it to Best Buy and they pointed out that the screen was separating, indicating that the battery was swelling. They went right to suggesting buying a new machine, but I'm curious if it just needs a new battery, or both a new battery and a new display, and if this is even worth fixing?

Most likely it only needs a new battery, as long as the screen isn't showing any cracks. When they get pushed apart like that the wires just pull loose... The again, the Switch Alpha 12 is fairly old, for instance you can't install Windows 11 on it. You might be better served with a new Spin model instead, they will be close to the same size and weight, but have the keyboard built in instead of as that second piece and be a lot faster with much longer battery life. I replaced mine with a Spin 5, but a Spin 3 should be just as good...
