In reference to this conversation, I'm using 'Old Style' to refer to ATX supplies that have the 20 or 24 pin connector to provide several voltages to the motherboard. These were used on almost every desktop up until just a couple of years ago. The 'New Style' supplies have either a single smaller connector or two of more even smaller ones and only provide 12V. They are the standard set by Intel for use with their motherboards and for showing the appropriate marketing logo with new machines. There is a pretty good article on it here. The new supplies are more efficient, cost less and are less likely to fail over time, so it's a good thing, except for the teething pains we are going through trying to find third parties to fill the market niche for larger than stock supplies.
