So I am currently maining an Aspire A314-31-C0SG for around 7 years and have done as much to increase the performance... Installed a Samsung 860 evo ssd, have a spare usb as readyboost and later switched to Linux Mint. Is there anything more to upgrade the laptop even faster as I'm planning on using it for longer... The ram and CPU is soldiered but I've heard of motherboard switching and all but not sure on which is the best for my model. Thanks :)

You might achieve faster ssd speeds with a newer m.2 nvme card but might not be too noticeable except with very disk-intensive applications. Switching the motherboard would not be practical

I don't think this motherboard has a m.2 just sata... Was originally planning on a 980 but no slot

It should have an m-keyed nvme m.2 card socket located under the battery pack.

Up to 2TB. WesternDigital Blue series recommended for this laptop. 1TB at about $100usd is probably best value at the moment.
